Once again, the Current River Churches Food Cupboard in Thunder Bay, Ont., is on the move. The food bank was forced to relocate from Refreshing Waters Church at the end of August due to a rent increase at the building on Hodder Avenue. It initially secured a new space inside the former Epiphany Lutheran Church at the corner of Dewe Avenue and Arundel Street. However, during the transition, the service learned it could not operate its refrigerators and freezers there. ADVERTISEMENT

Complaints of rotting garbage hit council ahead of October's organic waste collection launch

Weekly organic waste collection starts Oct. 21, shifting garbage pick-up to every other week

This week, west-end resident Caroline Taylor treated city council to a slideshow of rotting piles of garbage that peppered her neighbourhood earlier this year.

Her presentation focused on bylaw officers' ability to respond to complaints about ignored garbage but led to questions from councillors about Windsor's massive, city-wide shift to biweekly garbage collection in October once weekly curbside collection of organic waste starts.

That change has been met by resistance from homeowners, councillors said during the meeting, with some people worried the change could lead to dirty yards full of garbage.
