Kiuryaq opens NACC's season in the N.W.T. CBC North is proud to sponsor circumpolar performance

The Northern Arts and Cultural Centre is kicking off its season with Kiuryaq.

The circumpolar performance explores our relationship with the northern lights.

Kiuryaq means aurora borealis in the Western Arctic language of Inuvialuktun, in reference to their bright colours. The performance is a multi-disciplinary piece that blends theatre, concert and film.

Directed by N.W.T. artists Reneltta Arluk and Carmen Braden, the show features three performers taking on multiple roles, a live string quartet playing original music, and immersive projections that fill the stage.

Meet the Canadian superhero tailor fixing cosplay costumes at her Comic-Con booth

The Chatham, Ont., costume designer has over 50 years of experience in her field

Hundreds of people dressed as superheroes, supervillains and other pop culture characters will be on the move this fall visiting Comic-Con festivals across Ontario.

They'll put hours of work into their intricate cosplay outfits, but upon entering a convention, tragedy can strike in the form of breaks, rips and tears.

Luckily, a Chatham woman has become a superhero in her own right, running a cosplay repair station to help fans get their costumes back in shape within minutes.
