Introduction
Why Biology is important
Biology is the study of life and living things. It looks at how organisms are built, how they grow and work, where they come from, how they change over time, and where they are found on Earth. Biology is based on five main ideas: all living things are made of cells, traits are passed down through genes, evolution explains why there are so many different organisms, living things need energy to survive, and organisms keep their inside conditions balanced.
AP Biology Requirements
To take AP Biology 12 at R.C. Palmer Secondary School, students must meet certain grade requirements. Students need at least a B in Life Sciences 11 or Life Sciences 11 Enriched, and a B in Anatomy & Physiology 12 or its enriched version.
Biology is important because it helps us understand how living things work and how everything in life is connected. It shows us how our bodies work, how diseases spread, and how medicine helps people stay healthy. Biology also helps us take care of the environment, plants, and animals. By learning biology, we can solve real-life problems and make life better.
